Read below to find out information on all of our current School-Year Programs!

Before & After School

Our Before School Program provides Child Care from 6:00 a.m. until the start of school each day.  Children are transported from our site to each of the Greenfield Public Schools and Sheffield and Hillcrest!

Our After School Program serves between 50 and 60 children per day.  Students are brought to our program by bus from all of the Greenfield Public Schools as well as Hillcrest and Sheffield Elementary Schools in Turners Falls.  Our daily schedule begins with a healthy snack and some free time (both indoors and outdoors)  Then, children break up into groups which are divided by both age and developmental needs.  Each of our four groups rotate through a weekly schedule of Arts and Crafts, Gym, Values, and Enrichment.  Once the 45-minute group time is over, students are given Free Choices (or stations) such as Art, Homework Help and Outside Play.
The cost for After School varies by number of days attending and the district a child comes from (as transportation costs vary between Turners Falls and Greenfield schools).
Registration is open for Spring 2008!  Please call or email Katie (see contact page) for information and forms!

Other Out-of-School Times

The After School Program also provides Child Care on 1/2 Days, School Vacation Weeks and many holidays (Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Patriots Day, Presidents Day, 4th of July, MLK Day).  On half and full days, we extend our programming to include several Group Times, lots of fun projects and of course, some free time!

Something for Every Age!

At the YMCA After School Program, we have something appealing for every age group!

The Caring Group, consisting of our Kindergarten and some 1st Grade students, has their very own classroom!  This group is led with organization to reinforce the routines of school but adds hands-on learning and fun projects to the mix!

Our Honesty Group  is made up of mostly 1st and 2nd Graders.  These groups focus on the curiosity of the students and encourage them to explore their environment through the subjects of Art, Enrichment and Physical Education.

3rd and 4th Graders make up most of our Respect Group.  These kids work on collaborative projects and team-building to enforce the importance of cooperation, a very important lesson at this age.

Our oldest students (5th-8th Grade) make up the Responsibility Group..  These kids do a lot of Community Service and learning-by-doing projects.  They are often found helping out with younger groups and helping to plan our family events!

The Junior Leaders are a small group of kids from the Responsibility Group that have applied to serve as more of a staff assistant than a student at the program.  These kids are typically 10-14 years old.
